Allan Kaprow 1927-2006

He created something called the happenings which involove participants and an activities. These projects were called anti art. They  were there to see if one can see the abstract meaning in the art. In the late 1970s his art work began to go into museuma and shows. He also has wall size action paintings. “I am convinced that painting is a bore. So is music and literature. What doesn’t bore me is the total destruction of ideas that have any discipline. Instead of painting, move your arms; instead of music, make noise. I’m giving up painting and all the arts by doing everything and anything.” He just wanted to have artists break down barrior to figure out the line between art and non art.

Lauren Bon

Lauren Bon is an artist that is currently doing a project called farmlab in LA county. It is a garden in the middle of LA. It is between the building and it is beautiful. She has a Masters of Architecture degree from MIT and a BA from Princeton. She is the president of NOT A CORN FIELD. She has more land projects in U.S., Hong Kong, Belfast and Northern Ireland, as well as her role as a trustee, make her uniquely poised to build the capacity of the Foundation in the area of site based philanthropy, serving communities through education, civic, health, artistic initiatives and programs.

Scott Blake

Scott Blake is a fantasitic artist who does art with using barcodes..He was born in Tampa, Florida in 1976. He currently lives in Omaha, Nebraska.  He has his own web site which I am getting most of this information from considering i couldnt find any other biographies on him. Im not to sure why but I could  find plenty of his pictures but not much to say about him. On his web site he also has his dream catagories for Jeopardy, whic are Skateboarding, Photoshop, Beans and Rice, Homemade Pyrotechnics, Etheogens, The Simpsons, Gameboy Tetris. So ibelieve this saus somehting about his presonality. It seems as if he is outgoing and kind of nerdy fun guy.

He has art exbitditions in Savanna Georgia at the Savanna College of art and Design called the Reflections of Jane Fonda in 2001. Then in Brooklynn, New York in 2002 at the Stuhltrager Gallery he did Bar Codes for Jesus. In 2003 he did ghetto gallery #11 at the Ghetto Gallery in Savannah Georgia. In 2005 at the Bemis Center for Contempary Arts in Omaha Nebraska called the Bring Your Bar Codes. In 2006 at W Dale CLark Libray in Omaha he did the ALtered Book Exhibit. In 2006 in Winston- Salem North Carlonis he did the Art Vending machines at the Art-O-Mat. In 2007 at the Quartier Fur Digitale Kultur in Wienna Austrailia he did the Monochrom Presents Scott Blake. In 2008 he had two in Omaha the Mummy Shwo at the Torcadero Boutique and The Barcamp Omaha in Frost Acres. The last one is in 2009 called Agents and Provacateurs at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Dunaujvaros in Hungary.

He also has shows The Bracode Elvis is on dispaly at the Ripleys Believe it or Not! Fishermans Warf in San Diego, California. The Barcode Oprah is on display at Ripleys Aquarium in Myrtile Beach, South Carolina. He is also attending a 2 week artsit residency program in Johnson, Vermont this month.

He has Publications in FHM Magazine, Art Papers Magazine, District Newspaper, The Body-Mined Show Catalog, New York Times Newspaper and on Tech TV Live and many more.

Real VS. Fake

Real.. Fake?? What is real?? What is Fake?? Well I am no one to say what is what? I believe something is real when it is created naturally. I could never say what fake is or real is becuase todays society is so diverse and have change the meanings of real and fake. Now someone would say someones personalirty is fake or something that is made but not name brand is fake. Now real means down to earth and someone who is always straigth up woth someone.. But honestly is anyone really completly real??? IDK bout that..

Beauty

What is beauty??
Well I believe beauty can vary form person to person?? What do you believe is beauty?? Is it personality, actually beauty, smarts, good tastes, morales??

I believe BEAUTY is many differnet things. I believe everyone is beautiful one way or another. Whether it is physical beauty or personality. Most people who are physically beautiful dont have the best personalities, I am not saying this apllies for every pretty person. But most. This makes them less beautiful, they may have physical beauty, but if you dont have a good personality they are not pretty at all. The therea re the personality beauties. This cold be someone with physical beauty or someone who is not as attrative. But like i said what do you fond attractive? I beleive personality makes someone attractive and beautiful. If someone is down to earth and is giving with great morales and helps people and loves unconditionally then i believe they are beautiful. I believe it is someone who always puts a smile on your face!!

LACMA

This art peice is by Jeff Koons, it is called triple hulk 2 painted in 2007.
I would identify with this piece because it is bright has wierd faces andis so out there. When i seen it, it just called my name im not to sure why it just did. I am very attracted to bright colorful wierd things. Maybe because my personality is so bright and bubbly.

This was a maze sort of peice it was long and it got narrow at time and it is huge.
I took a picture of me standing next to it just to show how big it was.
This piece would identify with me because I can get narrow minded at times, but then i have to remember to lighten up and relax and be open minded. I think this peice really hsows that because it gets narrow at times and then it widens up and  makes it easier to walk.

This is a peice by Mademoiselles Giroux. It is from France in C 1880.
I love this dress It is old fashioned but beautiful and i would wear this somewhere
with the right time andplace. Which is like me i tend to be old fashioned at times but i am still
kind of with todays date.

This peiece did not have an artists name next to it, but i loveed the crown.
It spoke to me and i just loved it. It reminded me of 3rd grade project i did
when we researched different ethinicties and how they dress and lived.

This is a piece by Rolph Scarlett in Canada in 1944. I was so surprised that tis peice was paintin  the 40's because it looks so modern. I loved th edark back ground with the bright pieces. I am just a bright fun persona nd i would hang this in my house.



This is by Pieta in Spain in 1725.m I loved how it looked so realistic and how Mary is holding Jesus.
I liked this and thought it related to me becuase it showedmy religious faith. Iwas baptised while i was 13 and i am not like a jesus freak but i do have faith.

This is a peice by Takada Keiho. This peice related to me because of the flowers. I am someone who loves flowers more than imaginable. I want these flowers tatooed on me with family in the middle on my side. I just love this painting so much.

Jenny Holzer

Jenny was born in 1950 in Ohio. She then went off to school and got a BFA in painting and print making form the University of Ohio in 1972. Then she went off to get an MFA in painting in RISD. She went to the school of design in Rhode Island as a painter. She would paint simple aesthetics like Morris Louis.  Jenny started in her work in the 1976 in New York City. She enrolled in the Whitney museum independent study program.  Most of her work is simple phrases called Truisms. They come across as the most random slogans. She then presented her work on a stage with anonymous artists work. She then put her work on the walls of buildings on the strangest architectures. When she started she pasted the postings on buildings herself.

If you get offended easily you shouldn’t check out her work. Some has explicit content and bold statements about the society today. When she developed more as an artist she didn’t only use buildings to post her work. She also used her slogans on billboards, commercials, T-shirts and coffee mugs.

The she decided to take it even further to see if society can control what is on their television set so she turned to  the media to exploit her art of phrases and absurd statements. In her exhibit it was filled with electronic screens and two benches carves with artists writings. Which could be chairs, but also a piece of art as well.

Her Xenon projects are posted in Berlin, Venice, Rio De Janeiro, Rome, Florence, Buenos Aires, Oslo, Paris, Bordeaux, Berlin, Washington, Miami and New York City. She received the Leone D’oro for her American pavilion at the 1990 Venice Biennale and also the 2002 Kaiserring form the city of Goslar, Germany and was awarded the public art network annual award by the Americans in 2004. She also has a book called Jenny Holzer ‘Die Macht Des Wirthes’ (the power of words in German.
