Who am I???

On the left side I start off with pictures of my family.. Family defines most of who I am.. With out them I would be nothing... No matter how crazy they are:).. At the top i have a picture of my step dad my sister and I at my step dads wedding.. He and my mother raised me becuase my father wasnt realy in the picture.. Then it goes to my grandma.. She is the most understanding wonderful person in the whole world... The picture of the four ladies is my mothers bological sisters, my sister and I.. They live far and even though I only ge tto see them 2 times a year i still charish them and they are a part of me.. I have my mother and i in the middle this is becuase even though we bump heads all the time our love conquers all.. I also have a picture of my sister.. We dont look anything alike because we have different biological fathers, but I consider her father my father.. He willbe the one walking me down the aisle ( if I ever get married lol ).. I have a picture of both my dads sides of the family, along with a picture of both sides of my mothers family, Biological and adopted.. the picture where we are dressed up in old western clothes is a picture of my aunt that i live with.. I call her sissy and with out her i would be a complete dissaster in this world!! She is my support system and there will never be word to express my gratitude for her..

I also put in the middle my nicknames.. I gave myslef the nickname of Skul Gurl  kind of like a signature name... Then i have apicture of dumbo.. This is because my family has always calle dme dumbo.. then i have apicture of my high school graduation whoch shows my ambition for school because i was the first out of all sides of my family to do so...

Then i have the section i labeled as my life.. I consider this as my recent life and what really defines who I am.. My niece is first, shes not reallybiologically my niece, she is my best friedns child.. But i consider her no less to me than my niece, She is my pride and joy.. In the right corner i have a picture of my best friedns and I.. They really define who I am.. Even though one passed away she will live inside my heart forever.. I also have a picture of me getting one of my tattos done.. This tatto is wings with my best friends name on my back to represent her life andhow she is an angel now... I also have a picture of all 3 of us AMINGOs graduating high school and walking together... In the middle I have a picture of my oldest friedna and I.. We have been best friedns since 4th grade.. I also have picture of a few of my friends that are dear to my heart and who i can always laugh with no matter what..

Through out the picture i also addded some wuotes and words that defien me and my personality along with interests :)

To conclude my identity i would like to leave you with a quote..
"Sometimes we need to stop analyzing the past. Stop planning the future.. Stop trying to figure out how we feel.. Stop deciding with our mind what our heart feels.. Soemtimes we just have to go with Whatever Happens, Happens." -My auntie

  1. Hey SkulGurl, sorry we weren't able to look at your work yesterday!

Anyway, I'd say this is a pretty nice start!

When we spoke about juxtaposition... or putting things "face to face" or vis-a-vis, I think you'd start to find even more visual and emotional power if these image elements were larger and physically in contact with and overlapping each other.

In a way by spacing them across a big white sheet of paper with lots of breathing room you've written the "book" of your identity in neat chapters.

But the Visual Art of your identity, I think, might want to have more interaction and intersection. Instead of isolated chapters, can you show us more interaction?

In the cave art there are many overlapping animals... sometimes they face the same way and one is inside the other... other times, they overlap and face opposite directions...

One theory on this is that these are signs of cooperation, and competition...

Can you push your elements together and create these kinds of graphic elements? Can we SEE support here, loss or absence there?

Your write up of what we're looking at is wonderful and we do want that... but it'd be great if you created visual relationships that we could READ even without your text.

    Give it a shot!

    Thank you! Nice work!
