IDENTITY??????

MOST ARTIST ARGUE THAT ART HAS ALWAYS BEEN ABOUT IDENTITY. THE LAST 3RD OF THE 20TH CENTURY WAS USED AS A WAY BY ARTISTS TO EXPRESS/CELEBRATE THEIR IDENTITY. ART IS SUPPOSED TO BE OPEN AND FREE. NO ONE CAN REALLY SAY ART IS NOT ART. IF THE ARTISTS SEES THE PIECE AS ART, AND A WAY FORT HEM TO EXPRESS THEMSELVES, THEN IT IS ART. NO ONE HAS THE ABILITY TO STATE THE FACT THAT ART IS NOT ART. THEY COULD ONLY STATE THEIR OPINION.
SOEMTIMES WE MAY CHOOSE OUR IDENTITY, BUT OFTEN IT IS PUT ONTO US BY SOCIETY AND OUR CULTURE. THE EXAMPLE GLENN USED WAS IF THE ECONOMY IS BAD, THEN PEOPLE WILL FEEL STRESSED. THIS MAY CHANGE WHO YOU ARE AND YOUR IDENTITY.

  1. Yes, I agreed with your idea. For example, Lela Lee, I thought she wanted to show us a little kid for who is angry at life and is trying to express her negative feelings in a humorous way.
Identity can be very creative. This art form is becoming quite socially acceptable.
