Graffiti

Graffiti is to me one of the greatest kinds of art. I think it is so beautiful when people can express themselves through such an artistic work. I think graffiti has gone out of context when it comes to gangs tagging and other gangs tagging on top of the others tags. However i do commend them for their not giving a crap attitude, for instance if a gang member sees a spot they would like to graffiti on they just go and do it. They don’t worry whether or not they will get arrested or anything like that. Watching the movie really opened my eyes to the amounts of graffiti everywhere. I grew up with all my friends doing it. They would make some of the radiest things. When i seen the dutch money it tripped me out on the colors and the amount of art work on it. Where as our money is just presidents and LAME old stuff!! No one looks at our money and say wow this is beautiful.. Well at least I don’t! In most graffiti art it isn’t just paintings of pretty stuff, the art actually says something about the individual who painted it and they tend to use strange shapes, It gives the painters individual status. I agree with some of the artists complaining about the billboards. They are so worthless I would much rather see the art and someone expressing themselves. Also in Africa graffiti started as a political thing, to STOP violence, but it was seen as a political crime, which in most areas it is a crime. I wish this wasnt a crime, people should be able to express themselves as long as they are not doing it on people’s private property.
